Aspect to aspect

As an experiment that links into my choice of a Medieval style Comic-book, myself and the rest of the class were set a task to produce an aspect to aspect page that is used in comics (more often used in Japanese comics) to set the scene of the comic strip, Rather allot like a series of establishing shots in a movie or television programme.
Here is my final result of my own aspect to aspect page.
And also a small guide to how I accomplished it.
The way this is made, is by tracing a collection of images and pictures from the internet in 3 different ways using a brush, some ink and the light box.

To start with, we needed to find photos of subject matter that linked in with our chosen theme. Mine is a medieval theme, so i went on the internet, using Google images and Pinterest to find photos i liked that also linked in with each other so that the page seemed fluid and consistent.
I used many different images of castles, medieval buildings and markets, a jousting tournament and a blacksmith.
All of these images related with each other and set the scene of a castle, and the goings on in the castle.

Once we printed off two sheets of A4 paper full of our images and stuck the two pages together to make a A3 size sheet of pictures, it was time to start inking.

We had to ink the images three times in total, that's three separate pages of inked photos, but we had to ink each page of images in a different way each time e.g. light tones, dark tones and all the details.

This page is of all the Details,

This page is of all the dark tones,

And this page is all of the light tones.

After inking, the three inked pages were scanned into the computer and put into Photoshop.
Then the layers are threshold adjusted and multiplied on top of each other.
And the black of the inked tones and details is changed to a new, brighter colour, so that then when the images are multiplied, they show through each other, and the colours blend and create a very vibrant and colourful Aspect to aspect picture sequence.
